    Is bigger always better?

That’s a good question to ask when it comes to meetings and events, and the answer is that we have found small meetings – those that require a room block of less than 25 rooms – now make up more than 70 percent of our market. While that doesn’t diminish the significance of large meetings, it does shed a new light on a market segment that deserves some special recognition.

    One industry voice?

    As many of you will have seen in the press and online forums recently, an historic event took place at the IMEX Politicians Forum in Frankfurt last month. That event was the issuing of a joint statement by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and the Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC). The statement followed many months of negotiation and dialogue as well as the participation of both Taleb Rifai, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and David Scowsill, President & Chief Executive Officer of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) in the annual IMEX forum.

    Human Trafficking and the Events Industry - Don't look away

    As you’ll know from my other blogs, I occasionally find myself jetting off around the world. As an event planner, global travel is a vital—and often hugely enjoyable!—part of my job. So it was that in October of last year I touched down amid the flashing neon lights, wide boulevards and slot machines of Las Vegas. I felt a little overwhelmed at first, not unlike Dr Raoul Duke in Hunter S. Thompson’s infamous Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. But I soon acclimatised. And, contrary to the opinion of my colleagues, I was not there to gamble away my wages (though I did have a brief flutter at the blackjack table). The reason for my visit was the America’s worldwide exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events - IMEX America.
